Is this developmentally appropriate? Look up "separation anxiety" and see if this age is fitting in that span of when this happens.

How old? I read it will taper off by 3yo. My 21mo still makes a huge fit when I drop him off, but the babysitter says he instantly gets over it after I leave. I just make sure to keep the drop off short and sweet as to not prolong the situation. Hope it gets better. :)

When I took my 2 year old to daycare, sometimes the provider would have to hold her literally kicking and screaming as I left. We tried to leave quickly and smile and wave up to the goodbye window. However, the teachers told me shortly after we left that she would calm right down and participate. In fact, when we came to pick her up, she didn't want to leave!
The ironic thing was on mornings when she gave us a hard time at home, she would often smile and wave goodbye nicely at daycare.
I would talk with your caregiver to find out how she does shortly after you leave. If she is having a hard time all day, you may want to consider looking for a different situation. Otherwise, try to take this as a sign of how much she loves being with you!

my older 2 did this, and the youngest just started. i just give em a kiss n hand em over to the care provider and say i love you see you latter and go. alyase are fine a few minutes latter. worse is when they freak and dont want to leave daycare. daughter was 3 at the time, told her that if she was good at pickup time id take her to ballet practice. i remember when i was in first grade i started a privateschool and cryed every day at drop off. my parents bought me a new toy (the stompers semitruck!!!) and said when i went one week with out crying i could have it. i got the truck in a week flat!
